Ingredient
- 1.5 kg Amla (Indian gooseberry)
- 2 kg Sugar
- 1.5 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons Black Salt
Step-Step instruction
Freeze the amla
To make amla candy, take 1.5 kg amla then wash and dry them. Then, place the amla in the freezer for 2 days to deep freeze.
Before buying Amla, keep in mind that it should be small, fresh and have minimum blemishes.
Shape it
After 2 days, the amla will freeze completely. Let it thaw a little to bring it back to normal state. When it softens a little, break the amla into candy-sized pieces with your hands. It will break easily, and you will not need a knife for this step.
Add Sugar
When the amla breaks into candy-sized pieces, add 2 kg sugar to it and mix it gently. After mixing amla and sugar, keep it covered for 3 days.
Day 1
Mix and cover it.
Day 2
The next day the sugar will turn into syrup, mix the amla again in the syrup and leave it covered.
Day 3
On the third day take out the Amla with the help of a strainer and leave the Amla in a sieve for 15-20 minutes so that the extra syrup drains out, meaning on the third day the Amla and syrup have to be separated.
Spread it on a plate
Once the amla and syrup separate, spread the amlas on a plate. Use foil paper to prevent any stains on the plate.
Dry it
Place the amla on a plate and let it dry for 2-3 days. If the sunlight is strong, it will dry well in 2 days. Be careful not to over-dry it; it should be just dry enough so that it doesn’t stick to your hands.
Add sugar powder
When the gooseberries are completely dried, add 1.5 cups of powdered sugar and 1.5 teaspoons of black salt to it and mix well so that it gets applied evenly on the gooseberries.
Now your Amla candy is ready. It is prepared without using any stove. This candy is healthier than other candies in the market. So replace your market candy with this healthy candy, it will help in increasing the immunity of your children.
