Ingredients for Pahadi Aloo’s Gutke
- Whole Spices:
- 1 tbsp whole coriander seeds
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 inch ginger piece
- 2 green chilies
- 1 handful of fresh coriander leaves
- Ground Spices:
- 1 tbsp Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1/2 tbsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tbsp garam masala powder
- Other Ingredients:
- 3-4 tbsp mustard oil
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp black mustard seeds
- 2 pinches asafoetida (hing)
- 2 red chilies
- 1 tbsp salt (or to taste)
- 500 gm boiled potatoes (each cut into 3-4 pieces)
- 2 handfuls of fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
- Lemon juice (for garnish)
Grind the spices:
To make this pahadi allo’s gutke, first of all grind the spices, and keep them ready. For which,
First you take a mortar & pestle and add 1 tbsp whole coriandar in this,1 tbsp cumin seeds, 1 inch hinger piece, 2 green chilies, and 1 handful of fresh coriander’s leaves. Now cut or break chilis into pieces, And make a rought paste, because traditionaly this is the process. You can even blend it in the mixer jar without any water.
After grinding the sspices add 1 tbsp kashmiri red chili powder,1/2 tbsp cumin powder,1/2 tbsp garam masaalaa powder and add 3-4 tbsp water. Now, mix everything well and your paste are ready.
Apply tadka:
After grinding and mixing the all spices.To make this potato, first of all, prepare the tadka.For which,
first you, take a cauldron and add 3-4 tbsp of mustared oil to it, heat it up very well. Now, cool down the oil for a few seconds. Now, add 1 tbsp cumin seeds, 1 tbsp black mustard, 2pinch asafoetida. Now, crack everything for some few seconds. When you have successfully cracked the cumin. Now, add the 2 red chilies, just mix it don’t fry it.
Add rough paste:
when you apply the tadka then you add the rough paste you prepared earlier.Now, fry it super well and along with that add 1 tbsp of salt. You can add according to your taste.Now, fry the gravy very well for 1-2 minutes.Now, Keep the flame high and fry the paste very well.
Add boiled potato:
When your paste is fried well, then you add 500 gm boiled potatoes.Now, mix the potatoes well with spices.
Keep in mind:Each Boiled potatoes must be cut into 3-4 pieces.
When you fried the potato well with spices for 1-2 minutes, After that, add 2 handful of corinader leaves.It will give excellent flavor.Now, After this, turn of the flame because your “pahadi Allo’s Gutkey” is ready.
Serve:
When your pahadi aloo’s gutkey is ready, then your dish is reday to serve. Befor serving it, sprinkal some lemon juice to increase the taste.You can serve it with paratha, roti or rice. You can also give it in children’s lunch box.

Tips:
- Instead of crushing the spices, you can also grind them in a mixer jar.
- You can use any cooking oil in it.
- You should boil the potatoes in advance and cut them into pieces.
- Sprinkle lemon juice at the end
